SVAG FEI European Championships Young Riders 2016 Team Competition
Team Gold for Germany’s Young Riders, Silver for Italy, Bronze for Belgium
Italy was unable to defend the title, as Germany was simply unbeatable. Soon after the Young Riders Team Competition begun, it became clear that it would become a head to head race between Germany and Italy. Franziska Eufinger with Smokin In Starlight (212.5) and Anna Voss with her gelding Mandys Little Magnum (212) both showed convincing performances which put the German team in the lead.
The Italians did not take long to respond. Topgun Showtime between the reins of Andrea Pedrotti scored 213. But Germany was able to clearly gain distance. Whether Nico Sicuro with Dualin Surprise (211.5) nor the last to go Enrico Sciulli with Snips Gotta Bud with their sensational run, which was honored with the top score of 220, were able to change this fact.
Meanwhile Belgium was steering toward the bronze podium. Indy Henrard and Amber Heubuchel showed a solid performance and scored 209.5 and 209. Bo Brutseart secured the bronze medal. The Belgian rode CJ Whiz to a score of 210.5 and sealed the total result of 629 points for Belgium.
Jacob Behringer and his Gelding Rascal Sensation showed themselves in peak condition. Both completed their run, cheered on by fans and team members, with a score of 217, paving the way for the German team. Only Gina Schumacher still had her run ahead, at this time the team victory was almost certain. But this was no reason for her not to give the very best.
With a great and extremely dynamic performance, especially in the rundowns, and a score of 221.5, the pair missed the top score of 222 set by Bernard Fonck on Thursday by a hair’s breath. What a run for the German team!
And here are the final scores:
Gold and SVAG FEI European Champion Reining Young Riders Team 2016: Germany, 651 Points
Silver: Italy, 644.5 Points
Bronze: Belgium, 629 Points
